i know this series of books. They are both informative and visually appealing.

Definitely worth reading.
It is difficult to find good references for historical events at the turn of the 15th century. This is a fictionalized biography of a Muslim, told in the first person, who wrote a history of Africa and is mentioned in many sources. His travels are carefully laid out as well as his respect for religion along with the fortunate and unfortunate events which led to his varied experience of the world from Granada to Africa to Istanbul to Rome.

A good source for information on medical practices from that time that is clearly spelled out.
I'm using it as research for writing historical fiction. It is very helpful in that it addresses wound care.
