New version with good & bad
This is a new version of the old electronic hearing protectors they used to sell. Some changes for the better, some worse. My old model protectors used to constantly turn on by themselves, with a knob on each ear one always gets hit when packed in a bag. They have made the power much easier to keep turned off and added automatic power-off. They also made the muffs much more compact, much more long-gun friendly. Bad news. No longer stereo -- one microphone, one knob. The same sound is fed into each ear. This makes them OK for a target range, but *useless* for a hunter or anyone in the real world. The top volume setting used to amplify the sound above what you would normally hear. In this new model, you can't turn it up for enhanced hearing. So, fine for the target range, but no substitute for the old model elsewhere.

Terrible Display -- Battery Powered Version
The display is so dim and gray it isn't readable, not to mention suited for people with vision difficulties. I read good reviews, but for the AC powered version I now see.
