The Human God - the life of inspirational champion Niki Lauda
Niki Lauda was and is a legend. He describes how he financed his place in Formula 1 and his career thereafter. I loved his descriptions of famous races and drivers of the era and some of the most formidable names in the sport. You can tell he was not scared of anyone. He includes a section about Lauda Air and his difficulties in breaking into the Austrian aviation market. I love the ending of the book where he shares details of his family life in Ibiza. I find him to be an inspiration. I recently suffered a setback where I lost most of my hair and I instantly thought of his famous accident in 1976 where he sustained severe burns and facial injuries. I thought if he can survive his ordeal, I can survive mine. You only have to look at the cover of the book to see he suffered the most terrible agonies but he would not give into self pity.
