Heiden Battery Powered Single Watch Winder Cherrywood NEW

Classy winder, works well
Classy looking winder, quiet and is working well so far. Being battery operated is also a plus as it become much more portable. Good buy for an individual winder.

Cool lens, has shortcomings, but it's a Leica !
Got this for use on my Canon P. This is a high quality lens but is difficult to find a good clean copy. I had two but both had varying degrees of haze which affects sharpness. Even with minor haze though, image quality compares well against more modern lenses and the ability to collapse the lens into the body gives it a "cool" factor. Because of the soft coatings, I was always wary about cleaning the lens beyond a cursory, gentle wipe. In the end however, I prefer the image signature from my Elmar Red Scale even though this lens is faster at f2 vs the Elmar at f3.5

Outstanding lens but not for everyone
Had read so much about this lens and got it to replace my 100mm f2 as the portrait lens in my now 35/85/135 lineup. PROS: (1) Sharp, focus spot on. Calibration using FOCAL gave a microadjustment of +2 on my copy (2) Outstanding BOKEH (3) Very pleasant image signature for portraits. CONS: (1) Big and heavy. Somewhat balances on a full frame body but would be quite a front heavy burden on smaller DSLRs (2) Slow to focus, the USM has a lot of glass to move around. Can be helped with prefocusing (3) Indiscreet, a large DSLR with glass this obvious attracts a lot of attention Bottom line is that if you are looking for the best portrait lens available, this could be it. Gives outstanding IQ but you would have to live with the size, weight and slow focus. Me? I'll hang on to this until Sigma refreshes its 85 with an "Art" version and see how that compares.
