Maybe not for kids
First of all, the concept is very cool and the hardware is mostly good. I experienced two major problems with this in the almost 2 months I've had it. 1) Kano's app for Mac keeps crashing and according to their helpdesk they didn't know when it would be fixed as of November '22. I suspect they really aren't supporting it any more since the Pixel Kit debuted in 2017. In addition, to program/run your programs, the device must be plugged in to your computer if you use the Kano software ~ more on programming later. 2) I let my kids use it, and it fell off the couch onto the carpeted floor and the battery pack broke free within the case. I've seen at least one other device where the battery pack broke free. If you purchase a device, make sure you pay less than $40.
The Pixel Kit is really cool, and is programmable via Wi-Fi if you download a 3rd party flashing tool that was created by Murilo Polese who developed the Pixel Kit but no longer works at Kano. It runs microPython and is a very cool little interface, but you have to be able to understand a little bit to get it running on your network. If that doesn't work for you, you can always flash the original Kano software back on the device with his flashing tool.
I wouldn't recommend it for kids due to being somewhat fragile, but if you're into tinkering around with programming it's great for adults. I had a blast ~ until it broke.

Fun and Challenging Puzzle
This was a fun puzzle to put together. The packaging was pretty cheap. The box the puzzle came in was damaged in shipping, but it's very thin cardboard. The picture on the box is really small, and there's no poster to use when you're trying to work the puzzle. All in all it was pretty fun, and the puzzle itself seemed of a good quality.

Birds of Ohio
I purchased this book primarily for the CDs as I'm trying to learn to identify birds by their calls and there are better visual guides available. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and have been listening to the tracks quite a bit. Each track opens with an introduction by the author to help remember the calls and give interesting information.
There are a couple things that lowered my opinion one star. First, it seemed there could have been more birds. The red-eyed vireo is a fairly common bird in Ohio more often heard than seen that wasn't included, and I'm not sure why.
Also, most audio tracks were good quality, but there were many that sounded as if they had been digitally edited to remove unwanted sounds. This leaves a background garble to some of the tracks that I thought seemed unprofessional.
I enjoyed the author's commentary and found the grouping of the birds by color an interesting and different approach to the field guide.
