Unusual acoustic strings
I have just discovered these. I have used Thomastik's jazz flatwounds for ages on electric archtops but recently tried these for acoustic use on an old German archtop and on a Lowden flattop. I was scared off by seeing the gauge is 12, 15, 24, 33, 44, and 59. But they explain that the way they are made means a pressure per string (high to low) of (lbs) 23, 21, 32, 30, 31, 31 = 168 lbs, which is fine. They sound clear and rich and because of the heavy gauge give me little fret buzz. Wish they were cheaper!
