Pink Panther Film Collection
2 of 2 found this helpful The only thing wrong with this collection - and the only thing that stopped me giving it five stars - is the fact that, amazingly, it doesn't include the best of all the films, The Return of the Pink Panther! We have the cobbled-together (and frankly exploitative) Trail of the Pink Panther, made after Peter Sellars died, but not the jewel in the crown, the best and funniest of the whole series!
Other than this, the box is fine. Just bear in mind that it's not complete, as the title would suggest.

Informative and pleasant to listen to
There are 25 different birds, each listed with its seperate track so you know exactly which is which. They vary from familiar garden birds like blackbird, chaffinch and wren to more exotic species like the golden oriole, nightjar and hoopoe. Tracks generally last about one and a half to two minutes, which is just right because it's long enough to make them familiar without seeming too long.
Sounds great, and it's an excellent way to familiarise yourself with the different calls.
T. REX - BOLAN'S ZIP GUN [DIGIPAK] NEW CD

Tacky but never dull
I really like this album in spite of its faults, which are many and remarkable. It has its highs and its lows, and its lows are... well, almost endearingly low. With the exception of two or three tracks there'a a general air of tackiness here. Of decay even. Something has unmistakably been left around too long.
T Rex's worst album then? That's what Marc Bolan said later, though at first he had his usual high hopes for it. But while other people's musical misfires are simply boring and turgid, these are never so. The songs are full of hooks as usual, each with its cheesy charm. I think it's a scream, right down to the truly bizarre title track. (Cockney heavy metal? Pre-punk prescience? Who knows.)
My advice is to drop the serious attitude and listen to this record with a sense of fun. Just grit your teeth and enjoy it.
