The book was packed in a single bubble foil wrap and paper cover, but not in a cardboard box. As a consequence and as was to be expected, the book was badly damaged during transport. See the images. It now has a rupture in the binding in the upper corner, where it used to be without damage (compare images). I can't understand why the seller didn't pack this book more careful. It is more than a century old after all! Moreover, its value has now decreased, since it is damaged beyond repair.

I'm very surprised at your comments, as I sent the book using Royal mail and there has never been a problem before. I think that you may have used the international ebay postage service and this is where the damage may have occurred. I tend not to send abroad, but ebay often enables buyers from abroad to purchase via the Uk site without it being clear. Have you contacted the postage service your end?
