A handy part to be available for sale.
Almost fail-safe and does not wear out but this part can be easy to lose if not handled carefully. So having a spare part available to buy is a very handy bonus for these elderly X03/04 motors that otherwise seem to go on for ever.

Fine detailing and smooth motor operation but handle with care.
The level of fine detail on this model is very high and it needs to be handled with great care to avoid damaging the intricate pipework and delicate ladders. The finish is excellent and the smooth motor operation gives extremely realistic starting and stopping with my recent Hornby analogue controller. The main livery colour matches my recollection of the original paintwork on these loco's with the possible exception that the original paint may have had more of a gloss finish to it, whereas the model has more of a matt finish. However, this hardly detracts from the general pleasure one has when surveying the keen attention paid by Hornby in the production of this fine example of locomotive modelling.

A great value product compared to similar models with a different colour paint job, Works very efficiently.
1 of 1 found this helpful It was easily installed, I had this winch working very quickly and found it snatched a bit too fiercely using the 125 Kg set up. Using the 250Kg set up it is ideal for my fairly light load. The end of line shut-off switch is a good safety mechanism and the control unit is simple and easy to use. Care needs to be exercised when lifting to make sure the wire cable winds back on to the reel uniformly and without overlapping. That operating requirement is highlighted in the instructions.
