Basic belt, needs modification to use
This belt first needed rewiring for use in Europe, as the adapter provided did not fit in the socket. The wire is also very short, so needs an extension wire placed nearby the bin to power it. Once it's powered, the temperature is around 50-60 degrees celsius, which will immediately kill your yeast if you try putting it directly on a typical 25-30L brewing bin. I guess if you're buying a 4 euro heating belt, you don't want to fork out 50 euros for a thermostat, so an intermediary dimmer, designed for lamps, and goes in between the plug and socket, can work fine instead, once the dimmer switch is set very low. Bear in mind, that if you put this directly on your brewing bin, within a couple of hours, your beer will be about 45 degrees = destroyed beer.

Does what it says "on the tin"
The lid is fully removable, as opposed to a slide removal system like the description says, or hinged like the picture shows. But they are nice, they work fine, small enough to fit in your pocket, but will fit most of what you want. I got 3. One for my fishing lures whilst lightweight fishing, one for tinder collected on the trail, and one for emergency gear, which i waterproofed with electrical tape.

Some content that is useful, however, very badly written
There is some reasonably interesting content in this book; it's just unfortunate that it's so badly written. McEvedy's overindulgence in rhetorical devices made the book really unreadable. It became painful towards the end; non-stop hyperbole and repetitive exaggerated statements made each page increasingly more difficult to get through.
