Good pen, top of the Sailor line

I'm a fan of Sailor pens. This is exactly what you expect, large, good flowing nib that doesn't skip, comfortable, and perfectly balanced. It's fine -- a nail with a touch of feedback, but a perfectly controlled line and Japanese fine, which is proper fine. The ink mechanism is perfect, and it comes clean easily. These aren't cheap, but they are a statement pen. Equivalent of a Meisterstuck or other high end writing instruments, and they look and feel the part. Understated, but superior quality all around.

They are a good size and well made

Good size, well made, and they do the job holding the cuff closed. I got a nice compliment the first night I wore them from a fellow glider pilot. We are few, but when we run into each other it's a nice conversation starter.

Does the task as a generic Empire replacement

This works just fine as a replacement for Empire cartridges. I can't really compare it to all the others like the audiophiles do, but on my 10ex it sounds very nice and tracks just fine. And the price is right.
