Do you like exaggerated comedy?
This British tv import is not for everyone, but it IS a HOOT, if you like exaggerated characters (like Archie Bunker or Al Bundy)! These two idiots are fashion divas who behave like children, pouting, pitching tantrums, etc. They are the covergirls of the politically incorrect. They smoke, drink, pop tranquilizers, ...and this is for breakfast! Instead of a parent to correct their wild behavior, one of them is cursed with a responsible daughter, who usually gives up in disgust!

Great book! Readable, factual, practical, with recipes!
1 of 1 found this helpful I enjoyed reading the story of this tri-athalon winner / fireman, who has famous doctors on both his mom and dad's side and a strong family knowledge of health and nutrition. In his rigorous life as a fireman, his buddies began to notice a big difference between THEIR cholesterol, general health,etc., and HIS health. Since fitness is a life-saver in more ways than one for a fireman, who has to haul 75 lbs. of gear and still be able to get himself and someone else out of a fire, the Engine 2 plan got started. He includes records of the progress of the first groups to try switching to a plant-based diet. Though their aim was originally to lower cholesterol, many other benefits were observed, including weight loss. The plan has since spread to other firefighter groups and on into the mainstream news, etc. I am still using the book for recipes and inspiration, and even reading it aloud in bursts to MY HUSBAND! (Which is an amazing first! Who would believe he would be willing to listen to a diet book?) If you ever wondered why and how someone would go vegetarian, read this book!

Baz Luhrman directs dance spoof before Moulin Rouge!
Ever watch the international ballroom competitions and think "oh my gosh!" at some of the costumes, numbers, and the stylized beyond belief schtick? Believe it or not, Baz grew up with this millieu, and he has a whole lot of fun depicting the boy-meets-girl, fish-out-of-water, culture clash story here! The music is pleasant, the story is laced with wicked humor. You may be thrown for a loop at the beginning, but just keep in mind that some of the characters are extreme caricatures, cartoons, or exaggerations, and enjoy. Has a feel good ending. Nothing particularly objectionable for family viewing. Some Australian accents.
