Cruise Control COMMAND AP900 kit for Toyota Hilux 2005-2013

Great Cruise Control for Hilux

When setup and calibrated with all the steps set out in the Installation Manual the Command AP900 works very well in my 2009 KUN26R 3.0 l. D4d Manual Hilux SR. It appears to be of good quality. Wiring looms are well made and the plugs for accelerator position are fully compatible with the Toyota connectors. The control box sits neatly between the loom wires and side panel behind the driver side kick panel. Leave it free so that the led can be seen during the calibration and diagnostic procedures. Then wrap it in a thin layer of rubber or plastic foam and tuck it away. No real need to fasten it with screws. The good looking and functional EM35 control stalk fits neatly in the top back corner of the left side steering wheel shroud. The supplied A4 sheet of supplementary fitting instructions omitted to mention that the twisted pair of purple and green/white wires attach to the clutch switch. Cut off the supplied plug and crimp on 2 standard size female spade connectors. Be sure to use the supplied clutch switch. Some clutch switches out there are closed circuit when the clutch is engaged, ie. contacts are closed when the button is fully depressed. Speed sense is most conveniently accessed from the pink and blue (lilac according to Toyota) in pin 5 of connector A8 (the long 40 pin connector) which plugs into the back of the Combination (speedo etc.) Meter. Wiring diagrams in the Hilux workshop manual show the combination meter circuits and connector A8. The manual can be downloaded, search for ....mediafire ... and unzip the file. It is a full workshop manual that opens with Chrome and possibly other browsers, but it does not work with Firefox. Another useful document is the Hilux Vigo wiring diagram. Back to the AP900. It is very good value when purchased from eBay seller fashion_auto78 when compared to the prices of the same unit from other sellers. I don't know anything about the performance of competing brands of drive by wire cruise controls but they would want to be pretty good at about twice the price of what I paid.
