Better than expected
The jaw capacity is actually about 46.5mm, which is greater than the stated 44mm. Still of top quality. I have some made in Sweden, and some of the newer adjustables made in Spain. I cannot tell a difference in quality between the two, despite people claiming that the Swedish made ones are superior. The phosphate finish is great, provides some good protection against rust if oiled, and is nice to grip.
