Crewel Lye
Crewel Lye is a clever pun-name for this book which refers to the cleaning substance that princess Ivy uses to clean the "Crewel" embroidered tapestry that displays the history of Xanth and also includes the "cruel lie" that destroys Jonathan's life. This is not one of my favorite Xanth novels, but is a nice switch from the usual third person to the first as told by Jonathan the ghost. The story is intriguing and a bit more risqué than usual, but it is a fun ride. If you are reading the Xanth novels for the first time, try "A Spell for Chameleon" or "The Source of Magic". These are the best in the series (in my opinion) and much less contaminated by puns!
