A must for all Contrabassoon players.
This is a complex book about the Contrabassoon. It touches all important elements: history and construction, symphonic and operatic repertoire, chamber music, solo compositions for this instrument, reed making and fingering chart. It comes with a comprehensive chapter on basic instructions, with elementary and advanced exercises for developing the agility of the fingers.
Orchestral excerpts will take you through a large amount of the repertoire, and will enable the student to discover the "technical and expressive characteristics" of the selected pieces. I consider it to be an excellent book. More than that, it is a must for every contrabassoon player in the world.
All this comes on a good quality paper and bounding, overall a typically nice Ricordi presentation.
