    Switchcraft Studio Patch 1625 (16-Pt DB25-TT Patchbay)
    10 December 2015
    Switchcraft 1625 Patch box
The Switchcraft 1625 looked like a good idea to sit on top of my MCI JH-600 desk and interface my A&H ICE-16D which has 25 pin D-Subs , to my Bantam based patch bay so I ordered 2 . They arrived in reasonable time and were well packed , but when I opened the box and poked around for some info on them - nothing .Nothing to indicate whether the D connectors were connected one -to-one with the jacks on the front panel , and frustrating because the D connectors are marked Input at the top and Output at the bottom which is opposite to the generally accepted industry standard . No info on the D connector pin out - yes I know it is supposed to be the Tascam standard , but then I had to find that which wasn't to hand .No info on the website , and no manual for it any where . The Sweetwater guys tried to help and dug out an installation drawing from somewhere , but incomplete . No indication which row of jacks was half normalled so that had to tested out as well Sales blurb proclaimed that ground lift switches were available on the back panel - nope - nothing on the back panel except the D connectors , and had to take the box apart to get to the switches which were on the PC board . All in all , a neat piece of kit , but spoiled for me initially due to the lack of what could easily have been provided in the form of a brief User Manual , with a diagram or two , which would have enabled me to set it up in minutes rather than wasting an hour taking it apart to test it out and construct my own block diagram and notes For the record the bottom row of jacks is half normalled when this position is selected and is connected to the "output" D connector
