AUTO WORLD 4 Gear Pit Kit 00230
    27 October 2015
You'll end up needing this before long.
I bought this kit, as when I was working on the car, I lost a pickup shoe spring. The kit contains just about everything you'll need to maintain the car, but not repair it. Guide pins are an improvement over what's included on the chassis out of the box. The flag style pins hang on lane changing track pieces, while the thin pins do not. Here's what needs to be added and removed. Auto World pit kits for the chassis should include body mounting screws, as for one, older 4-Gear slot cars (Aurora/AFX era) use a screw to mount the body, and in addition, they're the part I always lose. One thing I wonder, why do they include an extra magnet? How would I manage to lose a glued-in magnet? And improved: Unlike silicone and Jel Claws tires, the style included tends to fall off after relatively few laps.
Bahco 2444 CARPENTER'S MORA MULTI PURPOSE KNIFE WITH HOLSTER

    Great Cheap Fixed Blade
This is actually a Mora, but made and stamped Bahco, and is a bit cheaper than a Mora. It is made in Sweden. The knife came razor sharp, but has stayed that way for close to a year even with heavy use, with just slight touch-up from a ceramic stone. A little over four inches seems to be a good blade size for me. It has a plastic handle with a good rubber grip. Sheath is the typical Mora--a single, molded piece of plastic the knife snaps into that has a belt loop, pocket clip (I typically wear the sheath clipped onto the watch/coin pocket on my jeans), and hole for an overalls suspender button to slide into. There's also a drain hole at the bottom. Only problem I've had with it, even in 30% humidity, kept indoors fall last year, it started having small rust spots near the tip and also on the unpolished spine. These quickly cleaned off with an SOS pad, and I haven't had a problem since. I highly recommend this knife!
    New Schrade Multi-Tool Attachment S93

    Great for repair.
First of all, the person that last reviewed this is clueless. The lock release is the scribe, located between the Phillips and blade. Just press down on it, and close the blade. On the other handle, it's the chisel ground sheepsfoot blade. I needed this tool to repair an inexpensive broken ST-1 Tough Tool, and it did the job OK. First of all, you'll have to take it apart, which requires a drill and a bit that is large enough to fit the rivet. Be careful not to damage the tube that fits over the rivet--it won't fit tightly if you do, and I mangled it. Then, slide the tool onto the pliers. Then, rivet it back together--I used a roofing nail cut down to size as the rivet, hammering it back into place with a ball peen hammer, and the other end resting on an anvil. I paid $5 for this handle with the tools, given the entire tool was over a hundred dollars 15 years ago when it was new, that's a steal. Only thing I needed to do after that was sharpen the non-serrated portion of the blade. It was a little dull. Obviously, it hadn't reached the production stage where it would be sharpened to a razor's edge. What I don't like--the scribe isn't a good awl, despite being advertised by Schrade to also be usable as an awl. The flat Phillips isn't as strong or good as a round Phillips. But, all the other tools are of excellent quality.
