Great start to a Soviet infantry company
This kit is a great start to a WW 2 Soviet infantry company. There are ample Officers, NCO's, light machine gunners and riflemen, and with 6 Maxim HMG models you have plenty of choices for support weapons. The poses of the infantry are mostly excellent (I'm not sure that you need 6 officers with megaphone, and personally I have never been a fan of the 'throwing grenade' pose, but again there are only six of these. You do need to be careful removing the figures from the sprue and of course, the gun barrels are potentially fragile, but the quality of the casting is excellent. Obviously they are made for the Flames of War game, but really, this is a superb starter set for any WW2 wargame rules set. You will have to supplement the infantry (there are no mortars, AT rifles, and the only submachine guns are with NCO's) which were such staples of the Soviet army, but for a high quality horde of riflemen, I doubt that this set can be beaten.

Great starter for Team Yankee
If you want to field a British army in Team Yankee with Chieftains, then this is the best way to start the army. You get 5 Chieftain tanks with the option to build either the original turret or the upgraded 'stillbrew' turret (sadly lack of turret bases means you can't build both) and 4 Lynx helicopter models that can be built as either troop carriers or anti-tank units. It does cost more to buy these separately, so if these are going to be integral to the force you want, it is probably a good idea to get a couple of boxes like I did.
The models themselves are superb. While I have been gluing plastic models together for probably 40 years, I consider myself 'average' rather than any sort of experienced artist at the process, and can say that as long as you have a little experience, these models will go together quickly and easily for you. They are some of the best plastic kits on the market in this scale for these models.
So, you get a couple of options on each model, you get good value and great models.

This is an unusual work, in that it focuses specifically on the French Cavalry in the Franco Prussian war. Cavalry is largely overlooked in the standard histories of this war. For those looking specifically for information about the performance of French cav, this work is indespensible. If you are looking for a wider or more balanced view of the overall war, it is probably too restricted in scope.
