HUSTLE STARRING BURT REYNOLDS
A very underrated movie and in my opinion the best film that Burt Reynolds ever made. An excellent storyline that is full of interesting characters and it is very different from the usual police movies.
It begins with the body of a young woman being washed up on the beach. Reynolds heads the investigation into her death which then intertwines with the girls estranged parents and the fathers refusal to accept that her death was an accident.
Central to the story is the relationship between Reynolds and his girlfriend who is a prostitute (played by Catherine Deneuve)with an exclusive VIP clientele. The viewer knows that Reynolds loves her and wants to marry her, but he is reluctant to say it after a failed marriage.
The fine direction by Robert Aldrich is assured without being flashy and the result is an excellent, engaging drama/thriller.
The ending is superb, albeit very sad and tragic. It certainly stays in the memory long after the film has ended. I guess the motto of the story is live each day to the full as it might be your last.

The Thing Prequel Review.
Not a bad prequel as the attention to detail from the John Carpenter original/sequel is excellent. Fans of that film will see many things that they will recognise from that movie, which is good. The negatives are that this film is really a pale imitation of that movie. There is far too much CGI especially in the last quarter. The suspense and paranoia that was so abundant in the first film is sadly missing from this. Worth seeing if your a fan of the first film, but do not expect the same genius.

Wrong Turn, Excellent Horror Film.
A very good horror film with some decent acting and a believable storyline. The make up/effects are by the great Stan Winston so there are some quality scenes of gore and murder. The make up for the family of inbred hillbilly cannibal killers is excellent and more than matches there daily horrific routine of preying on passing motorists in the backwoods of West Virginia.
The direction is assured and moves along at a good pace to keep you hooked.
Wrong Turn is one of the best horror films of its type that I have seen, think Deliverance meets the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and you`ll get the idea.
