Novation Launchkey Mini MK2 25-Key USB MIDI Controller MINT w/ Retail Box

Right amount of Features, Usability, & Portability
I've used a Novation Launchpad in the past, so I'm familiar with the brand quality, pricepoint, and build. This midi controller fit a great need for me. I wanted something in which I could launch clips, if I needed to. I also needed something that could work with pad-based software plugins (Ableton Drum Racks, etc.). As well, I wanted a basic set of keys to play VSTi synths, etc. (Komplete, Massive). This unit does all of those things, and requires no setup if you're using Ableton Live. Launching the clips, obviously isn't as easy as it is with a larger grid (i.e. Launchpad, APC40, or PUSH) but it can get the job done when you need it to be done. There have been a few times when (it is in the 'INControl' mode (firing clips)) that it stops responding to my DAW software. I've experienced this about 5-6 times. So I've yet to figure out if it was a short - term issue or something that will intermittently occur throughout the life of the controller. Overall it's great , easy, portable.

Will not work on a MAC. Yet Kingston does not state this.
According to Kingston this Data Card Reader works on PCs and MACs. However, it did NOT work on my MAC. when a card is plugged in (and the reader is plugged into my MAC Pro), no device/storage is recognized. When I went onto to Kingston's site to look for solutions, their support page stated that I needed to run a firmware update to fix that issue. Then when I clicked on the firmware page, I was notified that the firmware will not run on a MAC. So essentially this product does not work on Mac computers. Buyer beware.
