Remember this game?!
This a classic NCAA championship game, and it foreshadowed a big-time profession rivalry, as well...the Bird Man against the Magic Man, baby! If there is anything negative to say about this product, it is that they video and sound are not digitally improved to maximize the quality of the recording. Watching and listening to this DVD is like being in front of a late 70's era TV with rabbit ears on top all over again. Regardless, if you love the game of basketball, this is a nice film to add to your collection.

An Updated Classic for the Young and Young-at-Heart
I enjoyed this movie at least as much as I liked the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory of yesteryear with Gene Wilder in the title role. There are several key artistic differences between the films based on a book from author Roald Dahl, but the key plotlines follow through both of them in pretty much the same way. The destinies of a simple, young boy with very little in life but a loving family and an eccentric and wealthy enterpreneur who has banished the world away come together because of a golden ticket, and both of their lives are rewarded. Johnny Depp does well as Wonka, and the cinematography and CGI make this movie an excellent visual treat for kids of all ages. Enjoy!

Superheroes Are Definitely Back.
Now that the Batman storyline has made it into cinematic blockbuster history, the Justice League is being talked about outside the comic crowd circles. If you're already in the loop, ignore the rest of this sentence which states the members of this version of the Justice League who are known individually as: Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern (John Stewart), the Martian Manhunter, and the aforementioned Batman. The 3-Disc set features plotlines that revolve around the League taking on tasks on Earth and beyond that are simply too much for any one of them to tackle alone. The series also contributes a sly sense of conciousness to present world issues. My personal favorite villian present is the scene-stealing Joker. Overall (in my humble opinion), the story-telling is average at best with highs and lows that pretty much balance in the end. My best guess is that the writers offered material they felt would be a little something for everyone to enjoy. If you're anything like me, some of what you see will be up your alley, and other parts will not be what does it for you. I was truly impressed with the sound on this Blu-Ray version of Justice League Season 1, and if you're an audiophile, that may be the clincher. Thank you for reading.
