Excellent compact lens.
Small, compact lens with high resolving power. Excellent value compared to the other 50mm Nikon lens. The Special Edition get rid of the gold print and introduce a silver ring. Optical characteristics are exactly the same only the shell is changing. Personally I prefer the Special Edition, it is a little bit more discreet (No gold markings) and it looks good even mounted on a D4. Optically this lens is supposed to be sharper at equal aperture to the 1.4G and it is lighter. An excellent buy overall.
