Great sound, and true to other reviews, better than Bose!
1 of 1 found this helpful The Sennheiser PXC 450 headphones are the best that I have owned. I read reviews about these headphones, and was very skeptical that any noise canceling headphone could even come close to Bose; however, after testing at the retail stores, I was convinced. Yes, Bose has competition out there, and Sennheiser brings it. The sound is crisp, and I am able to hear subtle sounds that I was never able to hear before, making tracks i have listened to before even more pleasurable. If you are looking for overpowering bass, then pass these by and get some Dr Dre's. The headphones are balanced so that you can hear all nuances of music, not just bass. The Senneheiser PXC 450 are over the ear and are extremely comfortable, even after 10-12 hours of wear. The noise canceling feature works via one AAA battery. If the battery drains, you can still use the headphones without any noise cancellation. Activating the noise cancellation with the headphones on is like immersing yourself in a cone of silence, to borrow a phrase. Want to read a book in peace and quiet-put these on. A great feature is the talk through button. This allows you to bypass and mute what you are listening to and hear and speak to others in a conversational tone. The only thing I would change about the headphones is the placement of the bypass switch that bypasses the noise cancellation feature. It is a little hard to get to, but that is a very, very minor and almost not worth mentioning.
