If you are looking for a true Macro lens this may not be the one for you
I bought this lens because I was looking for an entry level to Macro photography. I chose this lens because of the extremely low price. The lens is very compact and light. The build quality is not as good as some of the older Canon lenses but adequate for use. The term Macro is applied to a number of lenses but if you are looking for a lens that will produce 1-1 life-size with the upgraded optics to capture fine detail then this is not the lens for you. I would not buy any lens of this type again. It would be helpful if people could agree what specification the term Macro referred to. If in doubt ask if the lens will reproduce 1-1 unaided, if the answer is no then you should be able to access its capabilities and decide if it is what you are looking for.
