    Tarzan 2-Disc Collector's DVD
This is the DVD for Disney's Tarzan fans. The movie has great picture quality and sound. There are many extras such as abandoned sequences, interviews with the animators and voice actors, interviews with Phil Collins as he explains how he came up with the music for the movie, and the history of the production. These are all done in short featurettes, which is nice if you don't feel like seeing certain things and want to skip to what you do want to see. They have footage of the crew's trip to Africa for inspiration. There are also Phil Collins early song demos with different titles which you can listen to. Even though the songs have different titles you can tell which song it evolved to. All in all this 2-disc set is far superior to the single DVD released in 2005.

    A Summer Place DVD
This is a good story about dealing with feelings about love when you're young. It's also about two grown adults who were lovers when they were younger and how they find eachother again. The story starts out when Molly and her parents arrive at an elite Maine resort, where her father had once worked as a lifeguard. The hotel owner feels that Molly's father is beneath him in social status. Johnny, the son the hotel owner, falls in love with Molly. Molly's parents can hardly agree on anything anymore. This situation is ignited even more when Molly's father sees Johnny's mother, his lover when they were younger. Johnny's parents aren't all too well either because of his dad's drinking problem. Molly and Johnny start seeing eachother against their parent's wishes. The two young lovers must face their parents and the world if they want their love to succeed. This may sound a little sappy or cliche, but this movie kept my attention for the whole two hours. It premiered in 1959 and it has subjects that were considered controversial at the time. It also features one of the most memorable movie themes ever, "Theme from A Summer Place." The movie stars Sandra Dee as Molly, Troy Donahue as Johnny, Richard Egan as Molly's father and Dorothy McGuire as Johnny's mom. The DVD's only special feature is the theatrical trailer. I wish they would have made a featurette or something talking about the movie since it was such a box-office hit. I think it is worthy of a special edition release. This movie seems like a good counter part to Peyton Place. It's shocking and romantic at the same time, full of well developed characters.

    Good, But A Little Disappointing
I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. I try to buy all her movies. I recently came across Paris When It Sizzles. Not the greatest movie, but it's fun. Some of the music in the film caught my ear. I looked up the soundtrack and came across this CD which is actually two LPs combined together on one disc: Paris When It Sizzles and Great Music Great Films Great Sounds. This CD is good, but a bit disappointing. There is a great song in the movie called "That Face" which is sung by Fred Astaire. Unfortunately it is not included here. There is an instrumental version here which doesn't seem to capture the brilliance of the Astaire song. Another piece of music which had caught my attention in the film is the "Bastille Cha Cha Cha." It is included here but is a little different than the film's version which is a little catchier. The "Gabrielle" theme is the same as in the movie. It's nice and smooth. The rest of the Paris When It Sizzles soundtrack has that Paris / La Vie En Rose feel to it. "Tango De Paris" is a nice tango style track. "Saccharine Strings" is very beautiful and romantic, perfect for that candle lit dinner. "Valse De Paree" is a sort of waltz with that Parisian accordion feel. "Bastille Cha Cha Cha", while different from the movie version, is still catchy and kind of makes you want to swings your hips a bit. The other half of the CD is Nelson Riddle doing his interpretation of film music by different composers. The stand out tracks for me were "Theme from Stowaway In The Sky", "Sawdust And Spangles And Dreams" (from Billy Roses's Jumbo) and "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." This CD is good for relaxing, dinner for two or that nice long, hot bubble bath. While the CD isn't the best, it is fun. Thanks for reading.
