Great film, But doesn't do justice to the Steinbeck novel.

Cons: Filmed in black & white instead of color. That said, it IS arguable that B&W is more appropriate given the nature of the story.
Film includes only the last part of the Steinbeck novel. Many interesting characters and story lines omitted.

A Great Portrait of a Great Man.
I am an amateur history buff. My father served in Patton's 3rd Army HQ Battalion during WW II. I am a Vietnam veteran. Patton is one of my heros. He was supremely competent; the greatest field commander this nation has ever produced. He was smart, blunt and outspoken. We need leaders like him today instead of limp wristed, brain dead socialist gas bags masquerading as "leaders" we have parading around today.
The picture is a beautiful, glossy color rendition of a great man. It almost makes Patton seem alive. It is much better than the B&W pic of him that I also purchased. I intend to have this color picture matted and framed together with his quote about politicians from the B&W pic.

The Future
I saw the film a long time ago and was impressed with the message about the future. It is worth having for that reason. Metropolis is also make good use of the special effects for its time.
