It works ok, as a TV and radio but that is it.
1 of 1 found this helpful As the title says, the TV and radio are the only thing this tuner is good for. I knocked a star off simply because of the AV input. It only inputs 480 resolution and on a screen that supports 1080 resolution, the difference means a lot. The viewing is blurry, but at least it covers the entire screen. However, DO NOT ask the recorder to do the same. I mean that, sure you can record whatever is going in through the AV input, but playback of the said recording... that is a different story. The file only covers the very center of the screen, leaving black on the left and right sides... AND EVEN THAT'S BLURRY!!!! And with no way to fix the resolution so it isn't blurry while still taking up the full screen, I found that it's pointless to even use the AV input. I don't mind that it does not input an HD signal but I do expect a clear picture from the AV source, and I do expect the playback to be in full screen. There's no point in having a built-in capture card if this is the result that's going to come out of it.
As for the installation, if you in"10"d on using this on Windows 10, DO NOT expect a simple install. I learned this the hard way as initially the tuner actually overheated... to the point where removing the tuner actually burned my fingers. This was because the install disc did NOT come with the right drivers in the first place. Simply updating the driver didn't work, by the way. I had to hit up the diamond media website to obtain the correct driver and use that. I won't knock a star off for that though because I expected the install to have problems. This is not the fault of the seller.
OK, now that the negative side is done, I can say that while the AV input and install were my only real issues, everything else was smooth as can be. This tuner is perfect for watching TV and... listening to the radio?? This thing has a radio??? YES!!!!!!!!!!!! There isn't much more to say. This tuner is a keeper, just so long as the installation is done right, and the user stays away from the built-in AV input.
Is this a good value? YES Is it easy to use? YES Is it easy to install? NO!!! Does AV work? NO!!!
