Excellent Reception, Easy Setup
This was easy to set up and program with the clear instructions. I like the external antenna option because I live in a fringe area, but I didn't need to use it because the radio pulls in NOAA Broadcasts like a real champ!
It received the watch and warning alerts with no problem the first day I had it because we were having bad weather.
The speaker is good and clear, and the volume is more than adequate. The included AC adapter is a big plus so it does not drain the batteries, leaving them for times when the power goes out. In my opinion it is a good unit and am considering buying another one to give as a gift.

Microphone is not good, otherwise it's OK
2 of 3 found this helpful It is a good radio for listening, but the microphone response is terrible. You almost have to shout into it to be heard on the receiving end. Programming is through the software ONLY, there is no other way to do it. You will need the proper cable, software, and drivers.
As a UHF receiver it works just fine and receives signals well. The audio is clear and crisp for such a small unit, and the size cannot be beat. It is solid and you don't have to worry about accidentally pressing buttons when in your pocket.
There is no way to determine the power output because of the internal antenna, but at least it would be very difficult to have it break or snap off because it is nice and thick.
Overall, it is a little pricey because of the microphone issue stated above, that needs a little work. If that problem were addressed and fixed, it would be a nicer unit.
If it came in a VHF model, that would be great, I would be buying a couple for use on MURS.
