Fast and dry but still good

An excellent compilation of classic band pieces, featuring the great Fred Fennell leading the Eastman Wind Ensemble. Recorded in mono in the mid-50s, the acoustics are extremely dry, and the band sounds very close. Tempos on the Holst and Vaughan Williams are quite brisk compared most other readings - including Fennel's later recordings. Still, this is a great album for aficionados of classic wind band music.
