I was surprised very good tires
The following is an excerpt from my review on my 2006 "mighty" Mazda tribute S aka Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner and in Australia, Ford Maverick...
... I was looking for a set of cheap tires because I wasn't expecting to keep the car as long as I have. What a surprise these tires have been.
I got a set of westlake su318 235/75/16 stock size in April of 2016. We pull a small rpod 189 camper. Lots of off road (limited to ground clearance of course but pretty dang rough some of it) To get to mountain bike trail heads and boondocking campsites I have 2" strut spacers on front and air lift in the rear springs to give me just a bit extra clearance but still look normal on the road so it doesnt look like a "feminine product dispenser" owns it ;-). Yes we sometimes pull the rpod off road its the rugged edition check it out. My wife and I have driven this car through 42 states We've put 62,198 MI on this set of tires for the price they have been incredible. Not a mud tire AT ALL but will get you through if you know how to drive. They have just hit the wear bars so i could probably get another 10k but winter is coming and they are baked and loud. I've tried the grippy 4wheeler tires, good, but they burn off too fast. This car NEEDS closed shoulder tires and continual alignment checks. And they look like a stupid wannabe owns the car. If you know what you're doing you can go anywhere you want with regular tires. Those kind if tires are just a gimmicky pseudo man checklist item. With the intelligent 4wheel drive system the car earely slips in snow. One time I pushed through a powdery wyoming snowdrift (carefully) over the hood with camper in tow and the tires did just fine. (Stop and clear transmission cooler afterward) . So as good as they were we decided on a second set of these tires. And since i install them myself i can afford more bike parts and camper stuff. And keep the non assuming look of the almost stock mighty Mazda tribute. hope to get the car to at least 275k before needing a new set. 210k now
Will buy them again and again .
Also have Westlake tires on my 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tire eating machine.
