About

I am a keen long-time eBayer based in Canberra. I have a stupid number of hobbies, and am afflicted with chronic GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Hopefully you can help me whittle things down a bit (whenever I actually get around to selling things)!

Star Wars R2-D2 Smart App-Enabled Remote Control Robot
11 July 2019
Not a great option at full price, but worth getting if discounted.
Let me clarify - I got this little guy heavily discounted, at around $30 (AUD). I can't imagine paying full price for it. It's cute for about 5 minutes, then you realise that it's not so smart (even though it is smart app enabled). Took a little while to work it out, as the mode selection switch on ours was really stiff. The security guard mode is kind of a nice idea, but it didn't really respond well to movement/sound consistently, and turns itself off after ten mins anyway. The other two modes are fun for a little, but you quickly exhaust the different responses/movements/sounds. Remote control is a little more fun. This little R2 doesn't work well on our carpets (not plush, just medium/thin carpets), but fairs better on hard surfaces. Seems about as responsive as I'd expect for a bluetooth type device. All in all...great if you can get it for a good price. Terrible if you're paying full price.
FILTER PAPER REGULAR 50 - 250mm Chip Cone for Deep Fryer French Fries Wire Oil
12 November 2018
Good for more than cooking oil, but a little light weight.
I use these for filtering beeswax...cleans it up very nicely, but doesn't remove the colour. They are a little flimsy and distort when putting solid objects in them - ie...wax chunks - but I understand this is not the intended purpose. Still...with chips and other foods, I think you'd have to be careful not to load up too high. I might double them up next time, but then it costs more.
Sirui P-326 Carbon Fiber Portable Monopod Max. Load 10kgs and 6 Years Warranty
24 August 2017
Terrific quality - value for money
Lightweight and quite stiff. The twist locks are extremely convenient to use and make the monopod much easier to slip into a bag (ie...don't catch like lever locks do). I really am getting to like this Sirui gear, and it can be had for a fraction of the cost of competitor's gear.
