Spring Session M is a great 80s memory
1 of 1 found this helpful If your looking for a retrospective album that represents the 80s nicely in sound and theme, this is a highly recommended album. It was mostly over-looked in its time, but the music and the talents of the artist age well. A few strong songs, and even the stuff that didn't chart still sounds pretty good. Strong songs includes "It Ain't None of Your Business" , "Destination Unknown", "Walking in LA", "Tears", "Words" and the bonus track not included on the original vinyl or cassette, "Mental Hopscotch". Best of the three original Rolling Stones albums I've heard (Including Beggar's Banquet and Sticky FIngers). It manages a better uniformity of energy of sound.

Funkadelic is awesome to me because they are real raw rock n' roll trasmorgified into the mad mama that is funk. I started off with "Maggot Brain" (beautiful album) and decided to follow up with Standing on the Verge of Getting it On.
'Red Hot Mama' starts off the album kind of silly, but within a minute or so gets serious. It keeps rolling with the energy with 'Alice In My Fantasies, gets murky in only the best of ways for 'I'll Stay', which never outstays its welcome even at 7:25.
Energy kicks back up with 'Sexy Ways' and the title track.
'Jimmy's Got a Little Bit of a Bitch in Him' is outstanding musically and lyrically hysterical. I can't help but think of Miles Davis "On the Cover" cover art when I hear this.
It all ends with the epic 'Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts' that propels its strong energy for over 10 minutes and never lets up.
This particular edition has two bonus tracks, 'Vital Juices' and the single edit for 'Standing on the Verge of Getting It On.'. Nice filler material, if nothing much else.
