Casual yet elegant, lightweight yet sturdy
This watch is very attractive and lightweight. It manages to be elegant enough for work and yet casual enough for jeans and shorts. I have smaller wrists and I can’t stand heavy bracelets so this is a great option for me. The Eco-Drive feature is my minimum requirement in watches these days, but I also really appreciate the radio controlled function that keeps the time and date correct even after daylight savings time changes. And the sapphire crown is the scratch resistance offered in higher end watches.
I got my first Citizen Eco-Drive watch in 2007 because I was sick of replacing watch batteries that died every 6 months. My original Citizen watch also had a blue face and the date, but it had a mineral not a sapphire crystal and wasn’t a radio controlled watch so I had to keep fixing the date every month and it has some light scratches. The thing actually still runs, I just got tired of it.
If you buy a watch from a supplier in Japan you’re going to get a manual in Japanese, which I can’t read. Not to worry, I simply went to the Citizen website and downloaded an XC manual in English. They only took this watch off their website this week, but any of the XC manuals are fine, they all use that same procedures for setting the watch and checking settings. As a matter of fact, I found that the instructions also work for the Casio Sheen line of watches which are visually similar to the Citizen XC line. I have one of those, too.
Just to help out those who may need it, I included some simple instructions for setting the watch.
First of all, figure out where the city is that is within your time zone is printed within the watch circle because you will need the long end of the second hand to point to it for the time zone setting. For example, mine is New York which is 2 seconds above the 9 and I see London at top at the twelve, and Paris 2 seconds past London. I won’t lie, I had to use a lighted magnifying glass to see it.
Pull the crown out one click, wind the second hand to point at the city of your time zone, then push the crown back in. The watch time will adjust to your time zone.
For the radio function time calibration I leave my watch on a windowsill overnight and you want to make sure to keep the watched well charged so that it can pick up the signal. To help charge and keep it charged, I have a Coolfire charger. I got mine from Amazon but I’ve also seen them on Ebay and they are relatively inexpensive and really make it easy to keep a good charge on my watches. I give my watches about an hour or so with them once every couple of months or so, I just lay the face of the watch on top of it and turn it on, and they run well and pick up the radio signal.
This watch is very nice, but choose your style well because this is one that will keep running for years to come.

Fried Green Tomatoes
I always liked this movie, and this lengthier version gives a little more depth. I always loved Idgie's attitude and outspoken courage in the face of vicious attitudes and actions that have blatantly reared their heads again in this country.
