Echt Kolnisch Wasser -- The original "Cologne."
Echt Kolnisch Wasser, or as it's usually called, Eau de Cologne, is in fact the original "Cologne." In previous eras, scented "water" (wasser, eau) was another name for perfume. Kolnisch Wasser, however, had a variety of uses: it could be dabbed on a handkerchief to gently massage the brow if one wasn't feeling well, it could be sprinkled over linens in a drawer or closet, and it could be used as a deodorant before commercial deodorants became available. Echt Kolnisch wasser has the most delightful and refreshing scent with a prominent citrus quality. I encourage anyone reading this, man or woman, to order a bottle and see how versatile it is.
