USB Smart Media / XD Card reader review
1 of 1 found this helpful There are newer forms of storage that hold more than Smart Media cards (Smart Media cards hold a maximum of 128 MB) but for select older synthesizers there is no need. I use Smart Media cards with my Roland XV-3080 synthesizer and I measured how much space 18 banks of 128 sounds takes and it only takes 1.8 MB......it would take forever to fill 128 MBs !!!!
This card reader reads both Smart Media cards and XD cards perfectly and installs with no driver CD needed with Windows XP.
I always backup my Smart Media cards and XD cards to DVD (NEVER CD !!!!) and I have good long term storage. CDs can fail over time. I've never had a DVD that was burnt correctly and verified ever fail yet. Always look a the record side of every DVD before using them and make sure there are no irregularities or marks. Sony blank DVDs are my favorites.
I've never had any problems with either type of memory card and I've been using Smart Media cards since 2002 (and it's Dec. 13, 2015).
It's absolutely crucial to be able to have a good card reader to be able to backup memory cards to DVD. Even though I don't expect that my memory cards will fail (it can happen) another reason to back everything up is in case the memory card would ever get damaged. You can still find new ones on Ebay so if the data is backed up on to DVD, you could move the data to a new card if you ever need to.

Anti Monkey Butt!
1 of 1 found this helpful I never heard of this stuff until I saw it in a random "sells absolutely everything" kind of store. It is so much better than baby powder. I strongly recommend it. And buying in bulk is definitely a good deal.

Hilarious!
This dancing Santa is so hilarious it's impossible not to laugh. I took it to work, and even my boss told me to keep it there so whenever I or she or anyone was having a bad day, they could come in and watch him dance. Love it!!
