Excellent replacement for stock Gibson Junior type tuners, with a great thumbwheel system
Excellent replacement for stock Gibson Junior type tuners, with a great thumbwheel locking system. The buttons on these are the same size and shape as those which came on my SG Junior, and the screw holes on the back of the tuners line up well with the original lower holes on the Gibson / Kluson tuners. You will have to fill the top holes with putty or a small dowel, or just leave them there, it's up to you. In terms of weight, performance, and similarity in look to the factory tuners these are the best option for Juniors and Melody Makers.
These replaced Grover Rotomatic 106C tuners, which were heavy, chunky, and ugly, as well as the plain strings tending to slip as you tune up and the largest string size you could comfortably use being a 52. None of these issues with the Gotoh MGT series.

Works very well in a high gain environment
I use this for a cavernous hall reverb last in the effects loop of my Peavey 6534+
It works very well in the loop of high gain amps, unlike many other digital reverbs. Highly recommended for doom metal applications.

Lightweight and easy to install and use
1 of 1 found this helpful These work just like your regular Kluson tuners except they are locking. Remove the old ones and install these, no drilling or filling. I did find that some of my screw holes were a bit stripped out or loose so I put a bit of toothpick in each hole at the time of the next string change and that stopped the screws from spinning and allowed them to tighten up. As the screws are just there to locate the tuners and prevent them from spinning in their holes I didn't bother to glue the toothpicks pieces in. String installation is easy. Pull the string through, tension slightly, and the tighten the thumbwheel. You are then ready to tune. The ratio and feel of these tuners are also very nice.
