Fixed the "popping"
The Emgo mufflers are a bargain brand glass pack, a good value muffler but nothing amazing. The problem I had wasn't so much the noise- they're loud. My issue was how the bike ran with a wide open exhaust. It used to "pop" on decel, which is a sign that it's burning fuel inefficiently- too lean or too rich. Rather than tear apart the carbs and rejet them, these tunable baffles provided back pressure that more closely matched the factory exhaust so the bike just runs better. I can't say it's much quieter, but it has a deeper tone, which to me is more pleasing than the raspy tone from the glass packs. Very happy with them, and the support from the people at Niche Cycle was excellent. They answered all my questions promptly, clearly they're knowledgeable. Delivery was fast, the price seems fair though I've got nothing to compare it to. No complaints.
