Great Unit, but the 705 is worth the extra money
5 of 5 found this helpful Great little unit, very simple to use, although the software could be improved in some areas.
Easy to upload rides to the software and keep a record of what youve been doing.
The basemaps are next to useless, but dont waste money investing in the proper garmin ones.
A few useful addons
http://openmaps.eu/download/garminmanager - a map manager for mapsource using free open maps
http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php - a great site, you can just select areas you want covered on your map, and it will then email you to an img file that you can put directly on your garmin. Again free.. no need for buying garmin maps.
As for the unit, seems fully waterproof (ive been out in all weathers on mine), navigation seems pretty much accurate, the cover on the usb/charger socket does seem to come off fairly easily and seems a common problem.
Overall well worth the money, but think carefully before buying if you will want the cadence or heart rate monitor at a later date. If so its well worth the extra few pounds for the 705.

Good value
Nicely designed. Quite weighty for its small size so feels well made. Metal front face, matt plastic trim and back. Controls well laid out, easy to connect.
(For Linux users this was tested in Mint 18.3 with a plugable branded dongle and connected easily)

Dont look at the disc covers - they contain the results
MAJOR WARNING FOR ALL PURCHASERS!!! One major problem with this DVD. On the back of the box it reveals who the winner is, on the back of each disc it reveals everything that happens in the episode, who won the challenges, and then in big letters who was voted out.. (fortunately i noticed "interview with new millionaire" and shut my eyes, i then noticed on episode one who was voted out and immediately turned all of the covers inside out so only one episode was ruined)
IF YOU DO BUY THIS DVD GET SOMEONE ELSE TO OPEN IT AND TURN ALL THE COVERS INSIDE OUT FOR YOU IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS...
That aside, having watched seasons 2 to 7 and the most recent season its great to see where it all began, and especially watching characters who have never seen survivor having to compete in the dark so to speak. Some amusing moments for survivor fans, constant captions reminding us who Jeff is, watching people come to terms with the new idea of alliances, and some familiar tasks. Only 5 episodes in, but classic survivor and the classic season that spawned the worldwide success. A must for reality tv fans
