Intriguing,historic and a must view family TV series.
1 of 1 found this helpful This series is designed for the real historic fiction tragic. The whole series attempts to portray life in Edo from a detective's view point in keeping communities safe, ensuring fairness and justice rules and family honour is in the spot light ....with subtle infusions of foreign technologies during a time where old Japan transitions to Meiji era modernisation. Themes hold strong to the principles of the way of the samurai blended with the presence of evil and plotters- Ninja - the local warlord's hench men.
From a viewers perspective many of the TV series sets and depictions of life of Edo era are very well portrayed. A must see series. Many of the special effects attempted in this TV series were ground breaking for the time and surely sets the scene for the current advances in XP.

Intriguing, tragic, historically realistic,valid and credible !!
Intriguing narrative interplaying territory rule,clan rivalry, loyalty, love, sacrifice and destiny and at the same time reflect true historic contexts and events.
Hearn very credibly writes a quality story that entertains and captures the readers attention with every turn of the page.
One (prequel) of an excellent series of books in the Tales of Otori series. One of the better written stories about Japan by a Gaijin.
