[New] D-Railed (DVD, 2018) Horror Thriller

Somewhat entertaining, but doesn't do justice to all its ideas

The story is a grab bag of ideas with potential, that, unfortunately, doesn't really do justice to all of them. It starts off with the characters boarding a train from the 1920s for a murder-mystery dinner-theater excursion, then being confronted with a real killing. Then the train derails and the movie morphs into a creature feature. All this can be gleaned from the DVD case, but then the plot veers again, in a direction I don't want to spoil. There's some weak CGI, too. It worked well enough to entertain me, but I wasn't persuaded that its maker's every had a firm grasp on the whole story.

Dark and intriguing

This is an intriguing western that goes to some dark places as greed and desire lead the characters to, potentially, fatal consequences. It reminded me of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, but has enough distinctive qualities to stand out as an above-average noir-western movie.

A Great Serial

The Drums of Fu Mancha is one of the best movie serials I've seen. It's directed by the talented and prolific duo, William Witney and John English. The cast are all good to excellent, with Henry Brandon standing out as the sinister Fu Manchu.
