Learning to fly an untamed beast
When I first bought my Scimitar, it had stock wire landing gear. For the weight of the plane, the stock landing gear was too weak to support it's weight. The plane "wobbled" as it taxied for takeoff. Takeoff was another issue.....Because it naturally sat nose high and tail low, it was very difficult to get off the ground without going into an immediate stall. So, I modified all 3 landing gear. I removed the stock wire landing gear, and replaced it with wire gear that I had made at a local motorcycle shop that had a metal bending machine. I used 3/16" steel rod, had the length of the main wire leg extended by 2". I left the nose gear the original length, but replaced the stock wire with the 3/16" wire. At the bottom of the main gear wire leg, where the wire is bent in towards the center of the plane to make the axle for the wheel, I had the wire bent outward. That effectively gave me about 2" more between the 2 main wheels, making the model a lot more stable on the ground. I initially left the stock nose wheel on the plane, but with the new main gear legs, the tail was higher than the nose. So I changed out the nose wheel for a larger one that would make the plane sit level from nose to tail. It's a dream to takeoff and land now. No more stalling right after takeoff. Too bad the company that was selling it stopped offering it. I'm on the lookout for a second Scimitar to modify with electric retracts. I would strongly recommend the 46 size retracts if you decide to put retracts into your Scimitar.

I had bought a foamy and the plans called for a 1600kv motor. But I had a 3 blade prop that fit perfectly on the engine pod. So I went with a 2200kv motor, and the plane really is a rocket on rails.
