Fantastic movie of a Great book
This is the closest portrayal of Shirley Jackson's book "The Haunting of Hill House". The commentary is very interesting. After listening to the commentary, I had a new appreciation for the skill involved to shoot in B&W and I agree with the Director that it would lose its atmosphere if shot in color. The acting was really well done, the camera work was fantastic in bringing the house alive and the story as I mentioned followed as close to the book as possible although, I'm disappointed they didn't do the scene where a ghost had strewn Theo's wardrobe and covered it with paint/blood - could have been freaky and better explain why she bunked with Eleanor that night.
All in all...a classic movie!!!
