Bad specs
I have used ATA's in various forms over a long period - CISCOs, Linksys (cisco) and others.
For various reasons I was looking for an ATA that supports/implements ipSEC, L2TP or Open VPN.
I realise that the SPA122 is out of production, but the data sheet specifically mentions support for ipSec and L2TP.
When I received the SPA122, it turns out that 'support' means you can set or unset pass-thru for these protocols! You CANNOT set up a VPN end point.
End of game! If you are writing these spec sheets - be specific. Based on the spec sheet, I went to a lot of effort to obtain an out of production SPA122 - only to find that the Spec Sheet lied!
If you are writing firmware for these devices, why not implement the ability to set up a VPN. There are a lot of advantages and very little downside.
