A Great Summer Read
The characters and story line capture the reader from the very beginning. It creates the feeling that you are right there in Italy experiencing the drama as well as the casual happenings of life - friendship, family, disappointments, joy, anticipation and hope.

A Diary that Doesn't Make You "Wish You Were Here"
This is a diary of a man who actually came across many of the people who would become major elements of Hitler's regime, in his daily comings and goings, who was not enamored but abhorred by what he observed. A fascinating snapshot of life for many typical Germans in the lead-up to horror and war.

Renew an old friend
A very nice copy of a classic novel. It has aged even better than I have!
