Unfortunately, it does NOT charge with the lighting connector - which I had specifically asked before I purchased.
The case is pretty typical - but there are no indicator lights to show you if its charging, if it has any charge, left, etc. I was looking to replace an older unit that had these features. Most importantly, I had specifically asked if it would charge with my iPhone lighting charger (as my old one did). I was assured that it did - but that is not the case. So while I am disappointed - others may like this unit. It does come with a micro-USB to USB connector - so you can charge it as long as you have the cube-tap/transformers,
