    Forest-Full Circle (1LP) VINYL NEW
    31 August 2017
Forest on vinyl (and you do not have to take out mortgage to buy it)
Forest were a psychedelic /acid folk (sic) trio that hailed from Grimsby. They were active in the late 60's, early 70's. Readers of a certain age may recall John Peel played them on his show back in the day. To my recollection they released two albums on Harvest, both of which are highly collectible as you will see when originals come up on E bay. Musically Full Circle is very much in the same vain as their debut eponymous album , but the ideas from that first album are developed further . The music is firmly in the sound of typical late 60's folk somewhat akin to contemporary Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band or label mates Tea And Symphony (another obscurity worth checking out.) The tunes are slightly longer than on the first album and this gives time and space for the music to breathe. I have purchased the Parlophone vinyl re issue which faithfully recreates the original album and it's beautiful gate fold sleeve ( and as previously stated without the hefty price tag). For those who prefer CD's there was a great Japanese import which came out a few years ago. It was produced just like a mini LP complete with the original Harvest inner sleeve. Alternatively you can fork out £500 for a decent original. Either way you will be getting your hand on a great album, So great The Guardian rated it as one of the 1000 albums to hear before you die. Don't leave it too late.
In Car Charger Power Cable for Pure Highway DAB Radio 12v 24v Power Supply
    15 February 2018
    A handy replacement.
This is the power cable for the original Pure Highway DAB Radio. The original one broke years ago depriving me of DAB radio in the car. I was pleased to see replacements are readily available on E bay and at such a reasonable price. Be warned this is specifically for the original Pure Highway DAB radio and would not connect with any other model.

An album that influenced a generation.
This album is a real 'back to basics' R&B's classic which, not only helped to revitalise the form but signposted a future revolution in rock. The music was recorded virtually 'live' in the studio with no overdubs at all. This lead to a rather thin stereo mix which is why it was originally released in mono. This was something unheard of in the mid 70's. Thankfully, this CD issue retains the same punchy mix as the original vinyl release and it sounds great when the volume is turned up way loud. Lee Brilleaux's vocals are really gritty, perfectly in tune with the music. The rhythm section is just right, nothing flash but just right, but to my mind it is Wilko Johnson's guitar work that really shines. Stand out tracks are the driving 'She Does It Right' and 'Roxette', both released as singles back in the day. A mint copy of this album on vinyl could set you back a pretty penny. Better to save your cash and buy this CD issue as it remains faithful to the original release.
