Mob money, Swiss bank and a lost silver mine all morph into a 60 million dollar scam!
1 of 1 found this helpful The reason you have never heard of this movie is because it's plot was much too complicated for the average 1977 movie goer. It's worth the watch to see a very young Jay Leno playing a Vegas mobster's out of control son!
Mobster front man Michael Caine buys a Swiss Bank thru the connections of Louis Jourdan, a Swiss Prince, so the mobster can launder Vegas money. The Prince turns Michael Caine onto a silver mine deal worth untold millions.. The plot thickens from there, taking the viewer on an incredible journey to a lost silver mine in Persia and then inside a believable depiction of the London silver market trade floor and behind the scenes negotiations where 60 million dollars comes and goes with every step.
Suffice it to say that everyone comes out happy in the end except innocent bookkeeper Tom Smothers, who is the fall guy who takes the insurance fraud rap for concealing assets (the silver mine).. Even he is happy in the end, as he is doing time in a quaint jail in a beautiful Swiss/Italian town and writing a book about the whole encounter. His wife, Debby (a very hot Cybill Shepherd) visits him every day in jail and sleeps with Michael Caine at night. Everyone is happy!
