Solid pickup but not for me?
2 of 2 found this helpful So I picked these up new at a really good price after reading some really good reviews of them. While being Seymour Duncans, what I feel are inherently solid pickups, their voicing isn't quite what I was expecting. Just concerning the bridge pickup which is what I use most since I'm mostly into high gain chugging I found it to be a little nasaly and not quite as clear and tight as I was hoping. I put them in my Ibanez ICT700 for reference. I have a set of Nazgul Sentient in my 7 string Epiphone V and they are the pickups that really sold me on the Seymour Duncan brand and why I became interested in the Black Winter. Obviously pickups are a very subjective thing depending on the style of music you play and what guitar they are in and the rest of your rig for that matter. All in all though I would have to say I prefer the Nazgul Sentient set over The Black Winter set.
