Perfect for my application
2 of 2 found this helpful I have this on a 10 gallon stocked with fish from a "sluggish current" invironment. This filter is perfect for this purpose. It filters and polishes the water without creating a disruptive current in the tank; just enough to circulate the water. The indluced foam filter media works great but I recommend purchasing the Biomaxx "S" cartridges to polish the water. I also have one of these on a 2.5 gallon betta tank and 2.5 gallon ghost shrimp/snail tank. It works great on them, as well.

Very good halogen replacement
Not as bright as I would have liked but 1) it is much cooler operating than a halogen 2) No fear of broken bulbs 3) it is, in fact, brighter than the desk lamp I've been trying to use. Overall, I would buy another if needed.

Not Many Other Options
I use these because there aren't many other options for my Deep Blue Professional "Nano" filter. That being said, these are perfect for my application; a very small filter on a small tank (10 Gallon). I could probably get-by with the sponge filter included with the filter unit, but these provide the additional feature of carbon to "polish" the water.
